Adjective in English Grammar

Adjective কী?

An adjective is a word that describes or gives more information about a noun or pronoun.

Previous Lesson-এর সাথে Connection

Lesson #7-এ আপনি Verb শিখেছেন। Verb action বা state বোঝায়। Adjective noun বা pronoun সম্পর্কে quality, condition বা extra detail দেয়। তাই adjective শেখা sentence structure, writing এবং spoken English improve করার জন্য খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

Adjective sentence-কে বেশি clear এবং meaningful করে। শুধু “a book” বললে সাধারণ অর্থ পাওয়া যায়, কিন্তু “an interesting book” বললে book সম্পর্কে extra information পাওয়া যায়।

She has a beautiful bag.
He is a good student.
I bought three books.
This is an interesting lesson.

Important Rules

Adjective Position and Degree

Adjective কোথায় বসে এবং comparison কীভাবে হয় তা শিখুন।

Adjective Before Noun

Adjective সাধারণত noun-এর আগে বসে noun সম্পর্কে information দেয়।

a good student, a beautiful flower, an interesting book

Adjective After Be Verb

Adjective be verb-এর পরে বসে subject সম্পর্কে information দিতে পারে।

She is happy. He is honest. The lesson is easy.

Positive Degree

Positive degree কোনো comparison ছাড়া normal quality বোঝায়।

good, tall, beautiful, easy
Example: She is tall.

Comparative Degree

Comparative degree দুইজন বা দুইটি জিনিসের মধ্যে comparison করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

tall → taller, easy → easier, beautiful → more beautiful
Example: She is taller than me.

Superlative Degree

Superlative degree তিন বা তার বেশি জিনিসের মধ্যে highest/lowest quality বোঝায়।

tall → tallest, easy → easiest, beautiful → most beautiful
Example: She is the tallest girl in the class.

Subject-এর quality বোঝাতে adjective লাগে: beautiful.

Noun describe করতে adjective লাগে: honest.

This is more easier. ❌

Easier-এর আগে more ব্যবহার করা যায় না।
