Why Do Bengali Learners Make Tense Mistakes?

Most mistakes happen because Bangla sentence pattern and English sentence pattern are different.

মূল সমস্যা কোথায়?

Bengali learners সাধারণত Bangla থেকে English translate করতে গিয়ে tense ভুল করে। Bangla sentence-এ helping verb, subject agreement, V1/V2/V3 এবং -ing form English-এর মতো clearly দেখা যায় না। তাই English sentence বানানোর সময় structure follow করা খুব জরুরি।

Tense mistake কমানোর সবচেয়ে ভালো উপায় হলো ভুল sentence এবং correct sentence পাশাপাশি দেখা। যেমন:

Wrong: She go to school. ❌
Correct: She goes to school. ✅
Rule: Simple Present Tense-এ he/she/it-এর সাথে verb+s/es হয়।

1. Simple Present Mistake

She go to school every day. ❌

She goes to school every day. ✅

He/she/it-এর সাথে Simple Present-এ verb+s/es হয়।

2. Do / Does Mistake

She do not like tea. ❌

She does not like tea. ✅

She singular subject, তাই does not হবে।

3. Present Continuous Mistake

I am study English. ❌

I am studying English. ✅

Continuous tense-এ be verb + V-ing লাগে।

4. Missing Be Verb

They playing football. ❌

They are playing football. ✅

Present Continuous-এ am/is/are বাদ দেওয়া যাবে না।

5. Present Perfect Mistake

I have finish my work. ❌

I have finished my work. ✅

Perfect tense-এ has/have + V3 লাগে।

6. Irregular V3 Mistake

She has went home. ❌

She has gone home. ✅

Go-এর V3 হলো gone, went নয়।

7. Since / For Mistake

I have been studying since two hours. ❌

I have been studying for two hours. ✅

Duration বোঝাতে for, starting point বোঝাতে since ব্যবহার হয়।

I go there yesterday. ❌

I went there yesterday. ✅

Yesterday past time, তাই V2 হবে।

9. Did Mistake

Did you go there? ✅

Did-এর পরে main verb V1/base form হয়।

Past Continuous-এ was/were + V-ing লাগে।

Past Perfect-এ had + V3 লাগে।

12. Future Simple Mistake

Will-এর পরে সবসময় V1/base verb বসে।

13. Future Continuous Mistake

Future Continuous-এ will be + V-ing লাগে।

Future Perfect-এ will have + V3 লাগে।

“Did you went?” কেন ভুল?

Did-এর পরে main verb base form বা V1 হয়। তাই “Did you went?” ভুল, correct sentence হলো “Did you go?”

“I have went” কেন ভুল?

Present Perfect tense-এ have/has-এর পরে V3 লাগে। Go-এর V3 হলো gone. তাই correct sentence হলো “I have gone.”

Since এবং for কখন ব্যবহার করব?

Starting point বোঝাতে since ব্যবহার করবেন, যেমন since morning, since 2020. Duration বোঝাতে for ব্যবহার করবেন, যেমন for two hours, for five days.
