Grammar আসলে কী?

Grammar হলো এমন একটি system, যা আমাদের words ব্যবহার করে correct sentence তৈরি করতে সাহায্য করে।

English শেখার সময় শুধু rules মুখস্থ করলে হবে না। প্রথমে বুঝতে হবে একটি sentence কীভাবে তৈরি হয়। যেমন: I eat rice. এই sentence-এ I subject, eat verb, আর rice object.

1. What is a Word?

A word is a meaningful unit of language. অর্থাৎ, Word হলো এমন একটি শব্দ যার নিজস্ব অর্থ আছে।

Examples: book, school, beautiful, eat, quickly

English sentence তৈরি করতে word দরকার। Word ছাড়া phrase, clause বা sentence তৈরি হয় না।

2. What is a Phrase?

A phrase is a group of words that gives meaning but does not give a complete idea. Phrase-এ সাধারণত complete subject-verb idea থাকে না।

Examples: in the morning, a beautiful flower, on the table, very quickly

Phrase sentence-এর part হিসেবে কাজ করে, কিন্তু একা complete sentence নয়।

3. What is a Clause?

A clause is a group of words that has a subject and a verb. Clause complete meaning দিতে পারে বা নাও পারে।

Examples: I am reading, she is happy, because he was sick

Clause দুই ধরনের হতে পারে: Main Clause এবং Subordinate Clause.

4. What is a Sentence?

A sentence is a group of words that gives complete meaning. Sentence হলো এমন words-এর group যা সম্পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশ করে।

Examples: I study English. She goes to school. They are playing football.

Sentence সাধারণত subject এবং verb দিয়ে তৈরি হয়। অনেক sentence-এ object, complement, place বা time থাকতে পারে।

Main Clause একা complete meaning দিতে পারে। এটাকে Independent Clause-ও বলা হয়।

এই sentence একা complete meaning দিচ্ছে।

Subordinate Clause

Subordinate Clause একা complete meaning দেয় না। এটি অন্য clause-এর উপর নির্ভর করে।

because he was sick

এটি একা complete sentence নয়। Complete করতে হবে: He stayed home because he was sick.

Basic English Sentence Patterns

English sentence বানানোর জন্য এই basic patterns খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

Subject + Verb

Birds fly.
পাখিরা উড়ে।

Subject + Verb + Object

I eat rice.
আমি ভাত খাই।

Subject + Verb + Complement

She is happy.
সে খুশি।

Subject + Verb + Place

He lives in Dhaka.
সে ঢাকায় থাকে।

Subject + Verb + Object + Time

I study English every day.
আমি প্রতিদিন English পড়ি।

Subject + Verb + Object + Place

She reads books at home.
সে বাসায় বই পড়ে।

Common Mistakes

Bengali Learnersদের Common Mistakes

Bangla word order সরাসরি English-এ বসালে অনেক সময় ভুল sentence তৈরি হয়।

I rice eat. ❌

I eat rice. ✅

English word order: Subject + Verb + Object

He go to school. ❌

He goes to school. ✅

He/she/it এর সাথে simple present tense-এ verb+s/es হয়।

I am agree. ❌

I agree. ✅

Agree একটি verb, তাই I agree correct.

She very beautiful. ❌

She is very beautiful. ✅

Adjective-এর আগে এখানে be verb দরকার: is.
